Hello, and welcome to the new Steve Benjamin for Mayor website!  My name is Joey Oppermann, and I'm the campaign manager for Steve's campaign for mayor of Columbia.

I've known Steve since I worked for him as a college student at USC back in 2002. His guidance at that time helped lead me to choose a career of public service to my state and community, and he's been a role model of mine ever since. I'm excited and humbled to be part of his campaign to bring real, positive change to Columbia. 

We've spent the past couple of months starting to lay the groundwork for the race -- talking to the people of Columbia, raising money, and charting strategy -- but we still have much work to do.  As we get closer and closer to Election Day on April 6, 2010, we need your help more than ever.  We're building a grassroots army -- the likes of which have never been seen in a city race -- and we're going to need neighborhood captains, canvassers, faith leaders, and more!  Your special talent will be a valuable addition to our team, and we look forward to working with you as we build a better future for Columbia.
