Columbia, SC – Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin’s Transition Team made its full report to City Council today completing a nearly two-month long process of public input and examination.

COLUMBIA, SC – Columbia Mayoral Candidate Steve Benjamin took another huge step today in the race for Columbia's future by tackling the airwaves with his campaign’s first television advertisement.
 

COLUMBIA, SC – A group of local ministers stood in support of Steve Benjamin’s Campaign to be Mayor of Columbia at a news conference Wednesday saying, “Now, more than ever, we need a mayor who believes in what Columbia can be.”

“One candidate has stepped forward with a vision of hope and optimism, a vision of promise and renewal, a vision to bring us together as ONE people – ONE Columbia,” said Rev. Willie Givens “That’s why we are proud today to announce that we are supporting Steve Benjamin for Mayor of Columbia.”

COLUMBIA, SC - U.S. House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn endorsed Steve Benjamin for Mayor of Columbia today saying that Benjamin will bring vision, hope, and change to our city.

"Steve Benjamin is not a business as usual politician and he will not be a business as usual mayor," Clyburn said. "Steve is a young man with extraordinary talents and he will bring creative and innovative leadership to South Carolina's Capital City."

Clyburn, who has represented South Carolina's 6th Congressional District since 1992, focused on Benjamin's dedication to Columbia's neighborhood organizations and public safety as two driving reasons behind his decision.

COLUMBIA, SC – Steve Benjamin’s Mayoral Campaign broke onto the airwaves this week with a radio ad featuring a 2007 voicemail left by then Senator Barack Obama.
 
“I’ve saved this voicemail for well over two years now,” Benjamin explains. “It has been a personal inspiration for me because I still believe in what we can do when we work together. I still believe in hope.”
